active service modified duties

Active service-modified duties is a period during which normal duties are reduced so that an academic appointee may prepare for and/or care for a newborn child or a child under age five newly placed for adoption or foster care. For additional information about eligibility, approvals and other aspects of this benefit please close your campus Academic Personnel Office.

 

by agreement

A by agreement salary is a unit salary without percent time and a base salary rate. They are not eligible for benefits of any kind. The circumstantces under which they can be used a limited, and should be used rarely. Please contact you Academic Personnel Office for more details.

 

disestablishment

The elimination of a department, program or School.

 

FTP site

File Transfer Protocol Site is a mechanism to maintained by the University to share information in a secure manner.

IWC

Instructional Workload Credit. The calcuation of workload is based upon a unit of measurement defined in the MOU as an Instructional Workload Course ("IWC"). An IWC is an instructionala offering that is regularly scheduled, requires significant preparation, office hours, and/or grading by the NSF outside he hours of instruction, and meets a minimum of three (3) hours per week.

Infers an agreement to bargain under HEERA

 

meet and discuss

Is a good faith-meeting to resolve issues of mutual concern, but is not bargaining.

 

pay period

Pay period is inclusive dates established for payment for the service by an NSF. The pay period for an NSF who is appointed for an entire academic year is twelve months.

 

PERB

Public Employee Relations Board, that administers HEERA.

 

programmatic change

Progammatic Change refers to changes by the University to the academic programs that may effect the insturctional offerings delivered by NSF. These may include mergers, disestablishments of departments, new initiatives, specilization or restructining of graduate programs.

 

proof of service

Document used as legal proof that correspondence was sent from one party to another.

 

service period

Service period represents the calendar dates cited in the appointment letter, in accordance with the established the academic calendar, during which the the NSF provides service.

 

support employees

may include readers, teaching assistancts, lab assistants

 

time-limited appointment/
position

Time-limited positions are for a fixed period. Individuals who are appointed to such positions cannot be reappointed to that position beyond the fixed period. A time-limited position must support a program’s stated academic goals.
