HX — Health Care Professionals

The Health Care Professional Unit (HX) is a systemwide bargaining unit of non-supervisory licensed health care practitioners who provide a variety of clinical and medical services in support of the University’s medical and student health centers. The unit is represented by the University Professional and Technical Employees union (UPTE). Currently, the unit includes approximately 10,720* employees.

UC Health represents the fourth-largest health care delivery system in California. The medical centers provide patient care services valued at nearly $7 billion annually, accounting for more than 3.9 million clinic visits and more than 290,000 emergency room visits each year.
