Example: In a Writing Program, a Continuing Appointee who teaches specialized technical writing is laid off due to budget cuts that eliminated her courses. She alleges that she is equally qualified to teach the basic writing courses assigned to less senior NSF. After evaluation of the Continuing Appointee’s qualifications to teach basic writing, the University finds that her qualifications are substantially equal to those of less senior NSF who teach basic writing. The University should offer the Continuing Appointee basic writing courses that are equivalent to her appointment percentage, and instead lay off the less senior NSF who taught the basic writing courses that the Continuing Appointee will now assume.
