UC met with the UC-AFT on Sept. 26 for one day of bargaining regarding a new contract for UC’s more than 300 librarians.

Highlights

  • Wages: UC presented its initial wage proposal, which included:
    • Guaranteed wage increases of 3 percent upon ratification, and annual increases of 2 percent in 2019, 2020 and 2021;
    • Enhanced wage structures by removing a salary point from the bottom, and adding/enhancing one at the top.
  • Contract extension: With the current contract expiring September 30th, UC offered a contract extension to help support continued good-faith negotiations toward an agreement. The UC-AFT declined the offer. UC remains committed to work diligently and in good faith with the UC-AFT to reach an agreement as soon as possible.
  • Next scheduled bargaining: October 19
