UC and UAW Continue Bargaining for First Systemwide ComMaS Agreement

The University of California (UC) and the United Auto Workers (UAW) continued bargaining on August 19 toward a first systemwide agreement covering approximately 1,600 Communications, Marketing, and Sales Professionals.
During the bargaining session, the University passed a revised package that included the proposed adoption of all articles from the RPSP and SSAP agreements ratified on March 20, 2026, and a revised Side Letter on Subcontracting. The Union passed a revised Side Letter on Subcontracting, a Side Letter on Employee Awards, and a package that included the proposed adoption of articles from the RPSP and SSAP agreements.
UAW ComMaS-represented employees support UC’s communications, marketing, outreach, and related work, helping the university engage with communities across California and beyond and advance its public mission.
The parties will continue bargaining on August 28.
