The University of California (UC) and the United Auto Workers (UAW) continued contract negotiations on July 6 and July 10 as the parties work toward a first systemwide agreement covering approximately 1,600 Communications, Marketing, and Sales Professionals.

On July 6, the University passed a package proposal that included a second counterproposal on Subcontracting. UAW passed a package proposal covering Subcontracting, Wages, and adoption of the articles contained in the RPSP and SSAP agreements ratified on March 20, 2026.

On July 10, incorporating feedback from the Union as we try to reach an agreement, the University passed a third counterproposal package covering Subcontracting and the adoption of the articles contained in the RPSP-UAW and SSAP-UAW agreements ratified on March 20, 2026.

The University of California values the contributions of employees in the UAW ComMaS bargaining unit, whose work helps advance UC’s mission through communications, marketing, outreach, audience engagement, and more. Serving in a wide range of professional roles across the University, they help inform and engage the public, support UC’s reputation, and communicate the University’s impact across California and beyond.

The parties will continue bargaining on August 5.
