UC and FUPOA Continue Negotiations, Reach Three New Agreements on a New Collective Bargaining Agreement for Non-Supervisory Police Officers

The University of California (UC) and the Federated University Police Officers’ Association (FUPOA) continued negotiations on June 10-11 for a successor collective bargaining agreement covering approximately 266 sworn, non-supervisory police officers. The existing contract for the Police Officers Unit (PA) is set to expire on June 30.

Over the course of the two-day session, UC passed articles covering Overpayment, Payroll Contacts, and Wages, and proposed maintaining current contract language (CCL) on University Benefits. FUPOA presented proposals on Holidays, Hours of Work, Presidential Release Time, Overpayment, University Benefits, Wages, and Appendix “D,” their proposed list of Arbitrators. The parties agreed to CCL on Reasonable Accommodations, Personnel Files, and Medical Separation.

The parties reached tentative agreements on Parking, Parking Caps, and Uniform and Fitness Allowance, an encouraging sign of progress and good faith negotiations.

As campus policing continues to evolve alongside the needs of the University community, UC recognizes and appreciates the dedication and professionalism FUPOA-represented officers bring to supporting campus safety and fostering positive relationships across the University community. The parties remain committed to working toward a balanced agreement that supports employees while advancing the University’s mission.

The parties will resume bargaining on July 9-10.
