The University of California (UC) and the Federated University Police Officers’ Association (FUPOA) met on July 9 and 10 to continue negotiations for a successor collective bargaining agreement covering approximately 266 sworn, non-supervisory police officers across the University.
During the two-day bargaining session, FUPOA passed proposals addressing Hours of Work, Overpayment, Wages, and University Benefits. UC passed an amendment to the Access article to provide Presidential Leave, and counterproposals on Overpayment and Wages.
UC’s wage proposal includes competitive across-the-board salary increases over the life of the agreement, an annual step increase, an increase in compensation for shift differentials, an increase in compensation for educational incentives, an increase in compensation for bi-lingual skills, and the addition of longevity pay for eligible officers with 15 continuous years of University service.
The parties also reached a tentative agreement on Holidays and Presidential Leave. To date, UC and FUPOA negotiators have reached tentative agreement on 32 articles, reflecting continued progress toward a successor agreement. Only the Benefits, Hours of Work, and Wages articles remain.
The parties will resume bargaining on July 28-29.
