Adoption Assistance Plan

UC supports eligible faculty and staff who wish to expand their immediate families through adoption. Beginning July 1, 2021, UC’s Adoption Assistance Plan, administered by WEX Health, provides financial support through reimbursement of up to $5,000 of eligible expenses per adoption.   

Business Travel Accident Insurance

When traveling on official university business, you will be covered worldwide, 24 hours a day, for a wide variety of accidents and incidents while away from the workplace. Visit the Risk Services website for more information.

Family Care Resources

UC provides access to Bright Horizons Care Advantage, a web-based resource for finding childcare, eldercare, and other family care providers. Learn more on the Family Care Resources page, or on the Bright Horizons Care Advantage website.

Flexible Spending Accounts

The Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) allow you to pay eligible expenses on a pretax, salary reduction basis. Dependent Care FSA (DepCare FSA) is for eligible dependent care expenses and Health FSA is for eligible health care expenses not covered by your medical, dental, or vision plans. Homeowner/Renter/Auto Insurance

UC offers preferred pricing on homeowner, renter and auto insurance through California Casualty or Farmers Insurance Choice, depending on the UC location. Employees work directly with the insurer and premiums may be paid through payroll deduction. Enrollment is subject to underwriting approval from the insurer. For more information:

Legal Insurance

For a small monthly premium, you may enroll in ARAG Legal Insurance, which provides a wide range of legal services. Information about the plan, your eligibility and enrollment are available. More information about legal insurance.

Long-Term Care Insurance 

A message from CalPERS: The CalPERS Board has decided to temporarily suspend open enrollment in the CalPERS Long Term Care Program due to current uncertainty in the long-term care market. Therefore, effective June 17, 2020, and until further notice, the CalPERS Long-Term Care Program will not be accepting new applications for coverage. Applications presently in underwriting will not be processed. In September the CalPERS Board will be considering premium increases for its current Long-Term Care products.

Pet Insurance

UC offers preferred pricing on pet insurance through Nationwide, and you can enroll anytime. Premiums vary depending on your type of pet and where you live, and you’ll pay your premiums directly to Nationwide. Learn more about pet insurance. 

Tax Savings on Insurance Premiums (TIP) Plan

If you are enrolled in a medical plan that requires you to pay a premium, you are automatically enrolled in TIP. The plan allows you to pay your share of group health premiums on a pretax basis. More information about TIP plan.
