The Task Force met on Dec. 8 and again on Dec. 11 by teleconference and in person to conclude its deliberations.

The discussions focused almost exclusively on finalizing the task force’s report, which is due to President Napolitano on December 15. Task force members reviewed the report in detail and discussed ways to streamline the report and strengthen certain portions. A number of task force members asked for more detail and/or data to support certain task force conclusions, to better explain and contextualize the conclusions for readers.

At the end of the Dec. 8 meeting, representatives from human resources led a brief discussion about other UC benefits that typically are tied to UCRP benefits (dental, vision, etc.).

At the end of the Dec. 11 meeting, representatives from UCOP communications reviewed with the task force how to best share the task force’s report with the broader UC community when it is sent to the Academic Senate in mid-January for formal review. Options for making the report broadly available to the internal UC community include:

  • Posting it online along with a story that summarizes the task force’s recommendations
  • Sharing the report and story with campus/medical center communications offices for location posting/distribution
  • Distributing the report to staff groups (e.g., Council of UC Staff Assemblies) and also numerous administrative groups (provosts, administrative vice chancellors, HR and academic personnel offices, etc.)
  • Holding two informational webinars on the report for UC faculty, staff and administrators in early February 2016
