Retirement planning resources
UC offers resources to support you as you plan your financial future — from your first day of work through retirement.
Choosing your retirement benefits
Welcome to UC! Your retirement benefits are a valuable part of your compensation, so take the time to consider your options carefully.
Eligible faculty and staff have 90 days to make a choice between Pension Choice and Savings Choice. (If you’re eligible, you’ll receive a Retirement Benefits Decision GuidePDF in the mail.) The sooner you enroll, the sooner you start receiving UC contributions and/or service credit.
Did you work for UC before July 1, 2016, or are you a CalPERS “Classic Member”? Read more about different rules that may apply to your retirement benefits.
Learn more and make your choice at myUCretirement.com/choose.
To help you reach your financial goals, consider supplementing your retirement savings through UC’s 403(b), 457(b) or DC Plans.
Staying on track for a secure financial future
Whether you’re paying off your student loans or starting a college fund, saving up for your first home or adding to your retirement cushion, we can help.
Learn about your UC retirement benefits and managing your financial life. View descriptions and a calendar of upcoming webinars.
Meet one-on-one with a UC-dedicated Fidelity Workplace Financial Consultant by phone or video for help with all of life’s money matters, from paying down debt and budgeting to saving and investing for retirement.
Schedule online or call (800) 558-9182 to speak to someone with or without an appointment.
When you’re ready (or almost ready) to retire
Congratulations! Even if you haven’t decided exactly when you’ll be ready to retire, it’s important to start preparing as soon as possible. These resources are a great place to start.
The UC Retirement System (UCRS) offers three monthly webinars covering everything you need to know:
- Preparing for Retirement, for UCRP members planning to retire within the next five years, covers topics such as understanding UCRP pension benefits, retirement savings and retiree health coverage.
- Retiree Health Benefits shares information about the health plans available for UC retirees and their eligible family members.
- The UC Retirement Process from Start to Finish, for UCRP members planning to retire within the next 4-12 months, explains everything you need to know about the retirement process, including required forms, important deadlines and helpful resources.
Schedule an appointment with a Retirement Administration Service Center (RASC) retirement counselor to explore your retirement options and learn more about the retirement process.
