The University of California (UC) and the United Auto Workers (UAW) continued bargaining on June 2 for a new contract covering approximately 1,600 Communications, Marketing, and Sales Professionals represented by the ComMaS bargaining unit.

During the one-day bargaining session, the University presented proposals on Medical Separation and Ground Rules. The University is continuing to review the Union’s proposal on Subcontracting, as well as their package proposal to adopt the 41articles that were negotiated and agreed upon during recent bargaining with the Research and Public Service Professionals (RPSP) and the Student Services and Advising Professionals (SSAP) bargaining units.

The ComMaS unit was certified by the California Public Employment Relations Board in March. The University recognizes the important contributions Communications, Marketing, and Sales professionals make in advancing UC’s mission through strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, and public outreach across the system.

UC remains committed to bargaining in good faith and fostering a productive relationship built on mutual respect and a shared commitment to serving the University community. UC and UAW will continue meeting regularly in the coming months as they work toward reaching a mutually beneficial agreement for this newly established bargaining unit.

The parties are scheduled to resume bargaining on June 10
