We are pleased to announce that UC has reached a tentative agreement with Teamsters Local 2010 for a new four-year contract for the more than 11,000 clerical employees, library assistants and other administrative staff represented by the Teamsters. The new contract addresses key issues, including fair compensation, salary progression, and affordable health insurance.

“Our dedicated colleagues play a vital role in UC’s delivery of world-class service to students, patients, faculty, staff, and the public at large,” said Letitia Silas, executive director of systemwide labor relations. “We thank the Teamsters for their partnership and collaboration to produce a contract that recognizes their many contributions and their commitment and resilience over the past two and a half years throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Highlights of the agreement include:

  • Compensation: The new contract continues UC’s tradition of providing competitive compensation with guaranteed, multi-year pay increases as follows
    • Annual pay increases: All bargaining unit members will receive annual across-the-board pay increases totaling 15% over the life of the contract.
    • Salary progression: The contract includes mechanisms to support employee advancement through the salary range for their classification.
    • Longevity: Upon contract ratification, employees with more than 20 years of service will receive a one-time lump sum payment of $1,000. The one-time payment will also be paid to those who achieve the 20-year milestone during the contract period.
    • Shift Differential Pay: Night and evening differential pay for the relevant positions will be increased to $1.25 at the medical centers and $1.00 at campuses.
    • Overtime: After eight hours of work, overtime will be paid at 1.5 times the regular rate.
    • One-time ratification payment: Upon contract ratification, all bargaining unit members will receive a one-time payment based on employment status (part-time or full-time).
    • Equity Pay Adjustments: The contract provides a mechanism for employees to request an equity pay review and have it discussed with management.
  • Health Benefits: To support continued access to quality healthcare in the face of rising healthcare costs, increases to employee contributions for monthly health insurance premiums will not exceed $25 per member for the length of the contract.
  • Stability: The four-year contract provides predictability for bargaining unit members and the university. Upon ratification, the contract will be effective July 1, 2022, through June 30, 2026.

The new agreement will soon be available on the university’s website. If you have any questions about the agreement, you may contact your local Labor Relations Office.
