Dear Colleague,

I am writing to inform you that the University recently began negotiations with the Teamsters Local 2010 union on a new collective bargaining agreement for you and your colleagues.

First, let me begin by thanking you for your service and dedication to the University. The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted all aspects of our lives and made these past two years extraordinarily challenging. Your commitment and contributions to UC and the greater community throughout the pandemic cannot be overstated, and are deeply appreciated.

As we embark on bargaining a new collective-bargaining agreement, I want you to know that the University approaches these negotiations with an open mind, and looks forward to a collaborative partnership with the Union. We aim to reach a multi-year contract that addresses priorities and vital issues, and recognizes the value you and your colleagues provide across the UC system.

The University brings to these negotiations a sincere commitment to the following:

  • Creating workplaces that are safe, respectful, inclusive, and diverse;
  • Compensating our employees fairly and competitively;
  • Continuing to offer employees a choice of high-quality health plans;
  • Working in good faith with Union colleagues to try to find solutions to key issues;
  • Reaching a multi-year contract before the current one expires in March 2022 to provide you with the stability you deserve.

Again, thank you for all you do — you and your colleagues play an essential role in helping the University fulfill its public service mission.

We will keep you updated about our progress throughout the negotiations.

Kind regards,

Letitia Silas
