UC recently began negotiations with the United Auto Workers for a new contract for UC postdoctoral scholars.
UC’s overarching objective is a multi-year agreement that recognizes the significant contributions postdocs make to UC’s academic and research mission, with fair pay, good health benefits, support for families, and job security.
UC’s specific goals are:
- Compensation: A competitive compensation package that reflects the important role postdocs play at UC.
- Quality benefits and family support: Ensuring postdocs continue to have access to quality health benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and short- and long-term disability insurance, and a comprehensive array of family-friendly benefits.
- Job security: Continued appointment security for postdocs.
- Good working conditions: Providing a healthy and safe workplace and good working conditions for all our employees is a priority for UC.
- Collaboration: Working with the UAW, in good faith, to find solutions.
