Dear colleague:
I am writing to inform you that UC and your union, the United Auto Workers, have agreed to extend the current contract for postdoctoral scholars by one year. The four-year contract, signed in 2016, was set to expire this September. The contract’s new expiration date is September 30, 2021.
Additionally, UC and the UAW have agreed to form a joint labor-management committee to discuss family-friendly issues, including child care reimbursements and leave policies. The formation of the committee recognizes the importance of family-related matters to postdocs, and we look forward to fruitful discussions with the UAW. The committee is expected to begin meeting in October.
