On September 24-25, the University of California and the Teamsters Local 2010 union continued productive negotiations toward a successor agreement for the Clerical and Administrative support staff in the CX unit.
The dedication and skill of our clerical and administrative staff are central to the UC system’s work and global impact. As we navigate serious financial challenges, we are actively engaged in bargaining with the goal of finding fair, balanced solutions that support our employees while ensuring the long-term strength of our campus community.
Since the outset of bargaining, the University has presented several proposals regarding ground rules, agreement, access/union rights, labor-management meetings, performance evaluation, no strikes and out-of-class assignments. Also included are grievance, corrective action/discipline and dismissal, holidays, and parking.
Over the two sessions, the Teamsters have passed proposals on respectful fair treatment, labor-management meetings, catastrophic/compassionate leave, agreement and holidays. Proposals were also shared that address management rights, indemnification and health and safety.
In a sign of positive progress, the parties have signed tentative agreements on performance evaluation, corrective action/discipline, and dismissal, catastrophic/compassionate leave, grievance, labor management meetings, management rights, as well as a package that reaffirms the current contract language (CCL) on 12 existing articles, indicating a willingness to work through decisions collaboratively.
The next bargaining sessions are scheduled for October 28-29.
