America at 250: A live conversation on what’s next
As UC marks America’s 250th anniversary, a compelling live conversation will explore the history behind this milestone and the role higher education — and our university — can play in what comes next.
Join President Milliken and Beverly Gage, Ph.D., a Pulitzer Prize-winning author and leading scholar of 20th-century U.S. history, tomorrow, July 9, at 12 p.m. (PT) as they discuss the ideas, institutions and debates that have shaped American life; UC’s place in that story; and how teaching, research and public service can help guide the nation’s next chapter. Register now.

Keep exploring UC’s role in the American story
UC may have been founded 92 years after the nation’s beginning, but our university has long been part of America’s story of innovation, opportunity and discovery.

UC climate research brings solutions close to home
Climate change is already affecting daily life in California — from extreme heat to rising electricity bills and insurance costs. UC researchers are working to help the state prepare, adapt and build a more resilient future. Find out what UC is doing.
Wildfire advancements: Recent UC research is offering practical insights — that heatwaves increase wildfire risk, why six exits may be the “sweet spot” for safe evacuations, and how forest fuel treatments save about $3.75 in wildfire damage for every dollar spent.

Opening doors for California students
With costs still high and the job market shifting, one thing is clear: UC remains a smart choice for California students and families. A UC degree can mean less debt, higher pay and more room to grow. More than 60% of UC undergrads leave with no student debt, and average debt for in-state students who borrow has dropped by $11,400 over the past decade. Here’s how we’re advancing economic mobility.
More good news for UC undergrads: U.S. News & World Report’s 2026–27 Best Global Universities ranking placed UC as the top public university in the U.S. — and leading the world! Plus, all nine UC undergraduate campuses ranked highly on Money magazine’s list of top public schools in the nation, with every campus earning 4.5 or 5 stars.

Federal research funding rules may change — speak up today
The U.S. Office of Management and Budget is considering major changes to the rules for federal research funding, including how grants are reviewed, awarded and managed. Act now — the deadline is July 13.
