The UC Black Administrators Council (UCBAC) 2025 Conference will take place Feb. 24–25, 2025, at UCLA’s Luskin Conference Center.
This year’s theme is “Building bridges to break barriers: Cultivating success at UC.” It seeks to inspire attendees to confront the isolation that comes with being the only, the first, or one of a few in a position of leadership and challenges professionals to build deeper connections and leverage their power to remove obstacles for aspiring leaders.
Apply to present
If you are available during the conference dates and would like to apply to present a 60 – 70-minute session, complete the UCBAC Session Proposal Form by Nov. 22, 2024. Panel discussions may include a moderator and up to three panelists per session.

- Leadership or professional development
- Current issues in academics and/or research
- Health and wellness
- Effective strategies for improving practice
Presentation guidelines
Successful presentations will:
- Provide examples of practical applications for a given topic
- Engage participants with activities and/or firsthand learning
- Provide useful handouts and/or links to resources
- Present effective implementation strategies or best practices for attendees
- Address issues affecting the African American presence at UC
- Highlight intersegmental efforts or strategies across UC, other institutions of higher education and community-based organizations
Colleague, mentor and faculty member award nominations
UCBAC is accepting nominees for three meaningful awards. To nominate a colleague, mentor or faculty member (who is a UC employee or retiree), complete the relevant form linked below by Dec. 6, 2024.
- Harry Le Grande Excellence in Mentorship Award: Established in 2017, this award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated consistent leadership and dedication to mentoring African American students, staff or faculty members at UC.
- Walter A. Robinson Excellence in Service Award: Established in 2020, this award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated consistent servant-leadership and dedication to uplifting African American students, staff or faculty members at UC.
- Youlonda Copeland-Morgan Transformative Leadership Award: Established in 2022, this award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated consistent transformative leadership and dedication to uplifting African American students, staff or faculty members at UC.
