Update, Aug. 29, 2025: The wildfire catastrophic leave sharing program described below has ended, so the Los Angeles Wildfire Catastrophic Leave Program Donation Form is no longer available.

Across UC, students, faculty and staff have reached out to help those impacted by the devastating fires in the greater Los Angeles region. Though the immediate fire danger is thankfully diminishing, the hard work of rebuilding brings new challenges.

One way that UC employees can support their colleagues is by donating accrued vacation or staff PTO hours to a new, temporary Los Angeles Wildfire Catastrophic Leave Bank.

Through March 31, 2025, eligible UC employees may donate accrued vacation or staff PTO hours to the Los Angeles Wildfire Catastrophic Leave Bank to support their colleagues who have been affected by the wildfires (e.g., Palisades Fire, Eaton Fire). If you would like to help in this way, please complete the Los Angeles Wildfire Catastrophic Leave Program Donation Form and submit it to your location’s Human Resources office for review and approval.

As President Michael V. Drake, M.D., said in his message to the community, “we can— and will — make it through this, by coming together with kindness and compassion, rolling up our sleeves and taking care of one another.” Your contributions can make a meaningful difference to colleagues in need.
