UC is launching its 6th Systemwide Policy-Covered Career Staff Engagement Survey on April 27. Understanding our employees’ experiences, perspectives and engagement is essential to strengthening our workplace culture, supporting our community and, ultimately, to fulfilling our mission.

A selection of eligible campus-based policy-covered career staff will receive an email on April 27 with a link to the survey from Deloitte, the global professional services firm conducting the survey on UC’s behalf. If you receive an invitation to participate, please take the time to share your perspective. The survey closes on Friday, May 8.

The University intends to expand the systemwide survey to a broader group of staff in future engagement surveys.

The Systemwide Staff Engagement Survey is just one element of a comprehensive initiative that also includes a survey of employees’ satisfaction with their benefits, a survey of employees who have chosen to leave UC for other employment,  and an-depth analysis of UC’s total employee compensation (including pay, health and welfare benefits and retirement benefits) and how it compares to what other employers offer.

The survey was developed by a systemwide workgroup and UC Systemwide Human Resources, in partnership with Deloitte, and will cover several aspects of the UC employee experience, including engagement, well-being and work-life balance, leadership, work environment and career development. The systemwide workgroup incorporated feedback from location-based staff surveys, CUCSA, Staff Advisors, and subject-matter experts.

This systemwide effort is separate and distinct from location-based surveys. It is employees’ opportunity to provide feedback not only to the leadership on their campus, but also at the Office of the President.

“The staff engagement survey is our chance to assess the experience and perspectives of our policy-covered employees,” said Vice President of UC Systemwide Human Resources Dianna Henderson. “The survey will identify what’s important to employee satisfaction, reveal areas where we could improve and, most importantly, help us develop strategies to enhance our employees’ experience.”

Survey responses are confidential. Deloitte will analyze the responses and report them in aggregate. No one at UC will have access to individual survey responses or personally identifying information.

The University of California’s 6th Systemwide Staff Engagement Survey is an opportunity for staff to provide direct feedback to UC location and Office of the President leadership on several aspects of the employee experience, including engagement, well-being and work-life balance, leadership, work environment, and career development.

Who will receive the survey?

A selection of policy-covered career staff at UC campuses, the Office of the President, and Agriculture and Natural Resources who have at least 50% appointments. Our intent is to include represented staff in subsequent surveys.
