There are some big changes to UC’s medical plans and premiums for 2026. If you haven’t gone to UCPath to enroll or make changes, now’s the time — Open Enrollment ends at 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 21, 2025.

Here’s why it’s so important to learn about your options for next year:

  • New medical plan: HealthSavings+ will be UC’s lowest premium medical plan, paired with a Health Savings Account with a $750 (or $1,500 for families) contribution from UC. CORE and UC Health Savings Plan members who don’t act will be automatically enrolled in HealthSavings+ if they’re eligible.
  • Your medical premiums may change a lot: UC is balancing premiums more equitably next year. ALEX, your virtual benefits counselor, can show you 2026 medical plan premiums (specific to your plan, location and union group).
  • New administrator for UC’s employee PPO plans: Blue Shield of California will be the plan administrator for HealthSavings+ and UC Care.

In the video message below, Maynard Jenkins, UC’s senior executive director of Benefits Programs and Strategy, explains why you need to consider your options this year.
