Introducing 2025-26 Academic Senate Chair Ahmet Palazoglu

The Systemwide Academic Senate is pleased to introduce 2025-26 Academic Senate Chair Ahmet Palazoglu.
Now a distinguished professor of chemical engineering, Ahmet has been a faculty member at UC Davis since 1984. From 2011 to 2014, he was chair of the Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science.
For the UC Davis division of the Academic Senate, Ahmet served as vice-chair and then chair from Sept. 1, 2020, to Aug. 30, 2024. He was also chair of two divisional committees, Planning and Budget and Academic Personnel. His systemwide service includes membership on the University Committee on Planning and Budget and chairing the University Committee on Academic Personnel.
Ahmet has produced an extensive number of research publications in peer-reviewed journals and has co-authored several books. He also co-translated (with L. Soysal) selected poems of Alice Walker into Turkish. “Devrimci Petunyalar (Revolutionary Petunias)” was published by Günışığı Kitaplığı in 1997.
