The Council of UC Staff Assemblies (CUCSA) is a systemwide employee resource group, founded in 1974, that maintains and enhances communication within the university community on matters of interest to staff employees in accordance with California laws and Regents’ policy. All UC locations, including UCOP, are represented. CUCSA’s goal is to serve the university by advising and offering a staff perspective to decision-makers.

Each year, CUCSA representatives form workgroups to explore topics that are top of mind for staff. At the end of the year, the workgroups produce thorough, evidence-based reports that are presented to the UC Board of Regents. The 2025/2026 workgroups have been:

  • Sustainable Workforce: Focused on preserving talent, investing in leadership training and preparing UC for workforce shifts, budget pressures and evolving staff needs.
  • Well-being: Examined employee mental health, work-life balance and workplace flexibility to promote a healthy and supportive work environment.
  • Engagement and Community: Identified opportunities for staff collaboration, recognition and culture-building to foster a stronger sense of belonging.

Watch the town hall recording and explore workgroup findings

More than 100 staff and administrators from across the University of California system joined CUCSA’s All-Staff Town Hall on July 7, 2026. The session featured updates from CUCSA workgroup chairs, who shared key recommendations from the Sustainable Workforce and Wellbeing workgroups and answered questions about their final reports. Watch the Town Hall recording to hear directly from the workgroup chairs and learn more about the discussions and recommendations presented during the event.

All CUCSA workgroup presentation recordings and final reports are available on CUCSA’s website. These resources provide an opportunity to learn more about the issues CUCSA is advancing on behalf of UC staff and the recommendations that will help inform future conversations across the UC system.
