(K7) University of California Santa Cruz and AFSCME Local 3299 Public Notice for Sunshine

The Higher Education Employer-Employee Relations Act (HEERA), which governs collective bargaining of higher education employers in the State of California, requires that the University as the employer provide notice to the public before it begins negotiations with an exclusive representative.

The University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC), will begin meeting and conferring under the Higher Education Employer-Employee Relations Act with the UCSC Skilled Trades Bargaining Unit (K7), which is exclusively represented by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, Local 3299 (AFSCME). The union is the exclusive representative of the UCSC Skilled Trades employees at the UCSC campus. The University and the AFSCME will begin negotiating over a successor to the current collective bargaining agreement, which will expire on October 31, 2023.

The University will convene a public notice meeting on June 9, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., and again on June 13, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
