Retirees: Complete CUCRA’s survey to shine a light on UC retirees’ value

If you’re a retired UC staff member or non-Senate academic, check your email inbox for an invitation to participate in a brief, confidential survey conducted by the Council of UC Retiree Associations (CUCRA). The invitation to participate will come from your local retiree center or association, if they have your email address on file. The survey should take about 15 minutes to complete, and will be available online from Oct. 1 through 23.

CUCRA, an organization that advocates for all UC retirees at the systemwide level, is conducting the survey to better tell the stories of the collective activities and accomplishments of retirees following UC employment.

Your participation in the survey will:

  • Enable CUCRA, its member retirees associations and retiree centers to advocate more effectively on behalf of UC retirees.
  • Help the UC Office of the President and campus and laboratory administrators better understand the contributions made by retirees to UC and the broader community.
  • Assist UC retirees associations and retiree centers to create and improve useful programs and services for retirees.
  • Provide retirees with comprehensive information about their collective contributions and achievements.

The first CUCRA survey, conducted in 2016, was completed by 4,500 of the more than 50,000 retirees. That survey brought to light the number of UC retirees who continue to make a significant difference – including a remarkable 65% of survey respondents who reported volunteering in some capacity.

Information about this year’s survey and the report from the 2016 survey, “UC Retirees: Advocates, Ambassadors, Assets” appear on the CUCRA survey web page at http://cucra.org/survey.
