Joint UC-UAW statement regarding payroll issues for academic student employees

The fall 2018 implementation of UCPath, UC’s new systemwide payroll system, resulted in paycheck inaccuracies for hundreds of academic student employees on several UC campuses.

For the past several months, UCPath leadership and staff and UAW 2865 leadership have been working diligently to identify the problems and address their root causes. Today, both sides have reached an agreement to resolve academic student employee grievances about outstanding payroll issues.

UC’s Systemwide Human Resources and UAW 2865 have agreed upon the following to address the financial hardships on impacted academic student employees: each affected academic student employee will receive $150 (net after taxes); and employees with paycheck issues of more than one month will receive additional compensation, as appropriate, up to a maximum of $450.These payments are in addition to restitution of any and all wages earned under the UAW 2865 contract.

UC greatly appreciates the UAW’s partnership in identifying and working through these issues.
