On September 17, the University of California and the United Auto Workers (UAW) continued productive negotiations toward establishing an initial contract for the Student Services and Advising Professionals (SSAP) unit.
Our students flourish academically and personally thanks to the vital support of UC student services and advising professionals. As the University faces significant financial pressures, we remain committed to bargaining in good faith with UAW to reach a fair and sustainable contract for this new unit. Navigating these challenges will require thoughtful collaboration. Working together toward balanced solutions will benefit both the Student Services Professionals and the broader UC community.
During the session, the University presented proposals on respectful work environment, grievance and arbitration, and shared a counterproposal on the list of arbitrators. The UAW passed proposals on workload, labor-management meetings, holidays, and personnel files.
The next bargaining session is set for October 1.
