The University of California continued negotiations on August 20 – 21 with the California Nurses Association (CNA) for a new contract for registered nurses across the UC system.
During this week’s sessions, UC passed a range of proposals that included language on military leave, medical separation, leave of absence for union business, indemnity, severability, waivers, disclosure of personal information, layoffs and workforce reductions, resignations, corrective actions, discipline, and discharge. CNA passed several proposals that included classifications, recognition, subcontracting, DEI, health and safety, and acting appointments.
UC is committed to delivering high-quality, accessible care and collaborating with CNA to reach a fair agreement that supports both nurses and the organization.
The two parties will meet regularly throughout the negotiations, exchanging proposals and counterproposals until an agreement is reached.
The next bargaining sessions are scheduled for September 3-4.
