EnergyCAP — a leading provider of energy and sustainability enterprise resource planning (ERP) solutions — recently released the winners of its inaugural 2023 EnergyCAP Eco Champion Awards. The awards recognize organizational leaders in sustainability and energy efficiency across a diverse range of industries and use cases.

The University of California has earned the distinction of being named this year’s Most Sustainable Organization, a testament to our wide-ranging and strategic approach to sustainability.

“Across its numerous campuses, the UC system has set ambitious carbon neutrality goals, embarked on renewable energy projects, and implemented waste reduction initiatives. Its leadership role in the higher education sector for sustainability, a firm commitment to decarbonization, and detailed sustainability reporting have established a high standard for others to follow,” shared EnergyCAP in the awards release. “This commendation is further bolstered by the UC system’s significant pivot from relying on carbon offsets to making a firm commitment towards the full decarbonization of its operations, a move that signals a deepened commitment to reducing its carbon footprint.”

“We are pleased that EnergyCAP has recognized UC with this prestigious commendation,” says David Phillips, Associate Vice President of Capital Programs, Energy and Sustainability, University of California.

“Every day, our community works together to make UC a sustainable place to learn, work and grow. We look forward to continuing to support California communities, now and in the future, by realizing our goal of a more sustainable university.”
