The Council of UC Staff Assemblies (CUCSA) is a systemwide employee resource group, founded in 1974, that maintains and enhances communication within the university community on matters of interest to staff employees in accordance with California laws and Regent policy. All UC locations, including UCOP, are represented. CUCSA’s goal is to serve the university by advising and offering a staff perspective to decision-makers.

Each year, CUCSA representatives form workgroups to explore topics that are top of mind for staff. At the end of the year, the workgroups produce thorough, evidence-based reports that are presented to the UC Board of Regents. The 2025/2026 workgroups have been:

  • Sustainable Workforce: Focused on preserving talent, investing in leadership training and preparing UC for workforce shifts, budget pressures and evolving staff needs.
  • Well-being: Examined employee mental health, work-life balance and workplace flexibility to promote a healthy and supportive work environment.
  • Engagement and Community: Identified opportunities for staff collaboration, recognition and culture-building to foster a stronger sense of belonging.

Take a moment to review the workgroup presentations on CUCSA’s website. Then, next Tuesday, July 7, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. (PT), register for CUCSA’s virtual Summer Quarter Town Hall to learn more about the workgroups’ findings. Workgroup chairs will provide brief updates on their recommendations, then allow time for questions and feedback from staff. This is the final opportunity to provide feedback before the workgroups present their recommendations to the Board of Regents on July 18.
