New elective course on student accommodations 

UC is offering a new elective e-course, “Providing Reasonable Accommodations for Students with Disabilities,” to help faculty, academic appointees and related staff better understand their role, support student access and navigate accommodation requests, referrals, implementation and related questions or concerns. Clear guidance helps employees support students, understand their responsibilities and use available resources effectively. 

A central resource, developed in response to feedback 

Designed with busy academic schedules in mind, this new course brings together practical information and guidance in one concise resource intended to make the accommodation process easier to understand and navigate.

Course materials were developed by UC’s Systemwide Office of Civil Rights; Ethics, Compliance and Audit Services; and Risk & Safety Training teams in response to feedback from the Academic Senate, faculty and campus partners seeking clearer, practical guidance on student accommodations. The course features audio playback and is compliant with WCAG 2.1 AA digital accessibility standards.
