new plan for 2026:

HealthSavings+

Administered by Blue Shield of California (medical) and Navitus (pharmacy); supported by Accolade Health Care Advocate

HealthSavings+ is a new PPO plan for 2026 that is compatible with a tax-advantaged Health Savings Account (HSA). If you’re a CORE or UC Health Savings Plan member and do not choose another plan for 2026 during Open Enrollment, you and your currently enrolled family members will automatically be enrolled in HealthSavings+ if you’re eligible.

Please note: If your household includes both Medicare and non-Medicare members, HealthSavings+ is not available to you. If you do not make any medical plan changes during Open Enrollment, the non-Medicare members will be enrolled in UC Care, and Medicare members will remain enrolled in the Medicare PPO plan.

HealthSavings+ highlights

  • Offers the lowest premium of any of the UC medical plans.
  • Includes a Health Savings Account (HSA):
    • UC’s biggest contribution ever, up to $750 annually for self-only coverage and up to $1,500 annually for family coverage.
    • Contribute up to $8,750 (including UC’s contribution) through convenient paycheck deductions, and $1,000 more if you’re age 55 or older.
    • Use your HSA funds to pay for eligible health care expenses now — or save for the future, even into retirement. All contributions are free from federal taxes, grow in your account with tax-free interest, and withdrawals for qualified expenses are tax-free.
    • Get all the details about how HSAs work from our HSA custodian, HealthEquity.
  • No-cost in-network preventive care. For most other in-network services, you’ll pay 30% after meeting the deductible ($2,500 for self-only coverage and $5,000 for family coverage).
  • Comprehensive coverage across California, the nation and the world — including in-network UC Health providers.
