The Higher Education Employer–Employee Relations Act, which governs collective bargaining of higher education employers in the state of California, requires that the University as the employer provide notice to the public before it begins negotiations with an exclusive representative.

The current collective bargaining agreement between the University of California, Irvine (UCI), and the Committee of Interns and Residents/Service Employee International Union (CIR/SEIU), provides for reopener contract negotiations in 2022. The University and CIR/SEIU will begin negotiating over a successor to the current collective bargaining agreement, which will expire on June 30, 2022.

Local bargaining may begin following completion of the public notice meetings scheduled below. The University will convene initial public notice meetings on February 18, 2022 from 9:00am to 10:00am and February 25, 2022 from 10:30am to 11:30am. Join the meeting via Zoom
