UC Alumni Career Network: Professional Presence

Working remotely has become a new reality for many of us. The UC Alumni Career Network recently held a special presentation, “Professional presence in a (suddenly) remote world,” filled with advice on how to navigate this unfamiliar territory to cultivate a remote professional presence and lead effective virtual meetings.

UC Vice Provost Yvette Gullatt chatted with UC San Diego alumna Jessica Chen, founder and CEO of Soulcast Media, about the ins and outs of creating a professional online presence, including:

  • Strategies to project a professional presence via webcam
  • Insights on virtual backgrounds – when to use and when they are a distraction
  • Scheduling and leading effective online meetings
  • Effectively navigating interruptions or background noise while working from home
  • Techniques job seekers should take when interviewing remotely
  • Advice to improve professional presence via remote interactions
  • And more!
