On Wednesday, May 16, faculty, staff, students and retirees around UC will join together for the ninth annual UC Walks event. Each event reflects the location’s culture, and they all share a commitment to building community and boosting well-being.

UC Walks, a Systemwide WellBeing Initiative program that is coordinated by the wellness programs at each campus and health system, has grown steadily from its beginnings in 2010. Last year, almost 7,000 members of the UC community across 18 locations walked a combined total of over 10,000 miles  almost double the participation of the inaugural event.

Events take advantage of UC’s impressive wellness resources and beautiful locations. Last year’s events featured UC Riverside-grown oranges for Riverside and UCPath walkers, food prepared by the Diabetics Intern Program at UC San Diego Health and walks along the beach at UC Santa Barbara.

Visit the UC Walks page on UCnet to find out what’s happening at your location. Although most events will take place on Wednesday, May 16, there are a few exceptions:

Participants will receive a free t-shirt while supplies last, courtesy of UC’s medical and behavioral health plans.

Show your UC Walks spirit by sharing photos of you and your colleagues on Twitter, using #UCWalks. We’ll post a collection of #UCWalks photos on UCnet after the event. Check out a photo slideshow of last year's event.
