On November 14 and 19, the University of California and the United Auto Workers (UAW) continued negotiations to establish initial contracts for the newly formed Student Services and Advising Professionals (SSAP) bargaining unit.

November 14: UC passed proposals on Discipline and Dismissal, and Grievance and Arbitration. UAW passed proposals on Indemnification, Performance Evaluation, Appointments, Union Access and Rights, Union Security, Union Business Leave, Vacation, and Workspace Materials.

November 19: UC passed proposals on Wages, University Benefits, Parking and Transit, Duration, Severability, Indemnification, and Workspace Materials. UAW passed proposals on Grievance and Arbitration, Discipline and Dismissal, and Modality.

At this session, the parties reached a tentative agreement (TA) on Severability.

UAW and UC are making steady, positive progress toward balanced solutions that support the university’s mission and the well-being of its employees. We remain confident in our shared commitment to bargaining in good faith and reaching a fair, sustainable agreement.

The next bargaining sessions are scheduled for December 3-5.
