On October 15, the University of California and the United Auto Workers (UAW) continued negotiations to establish an initial contract for the Student Services and Advising Professionals (SSAP) unit.

During this week’s session, the UC passed a proposal related to Vacation leave and a Frequently Asked Questions document. UC also passed a counterproposal to the Holidays article.

UAW passed proposals on Labor-Management meetings, Discipline and Dismissal, and Work-Incurred Injury or Illness.

The parties reached tentative agreements on Holidays and Labor-Management meetings.

The Student Services and Advising Professionals at UC are integral to our students’ academic and personal success. As we continue to deal with ongoing financial pressures, we remain committed to bargaining in good faith to reach a fair, sustainable agreement. UAW and UC can develop balanced solutions that support both the institution’s mission and its employees’ well-being.

The next bargaining session is scheduled for October 29.
