UC and UAW Continue Contract Negotiations for Student Services and Advising Professionals

The University of California continued negotiations with the United Auto Workers (UAW) on August 20 for a new contract for the Student Services and Advising Professionals (SSAP) unit.

During this week’s session, UC presented proposals on personnel files, arbitration panel members, TEP floater appointments, and grievance and arbitration. UAW passed proposals related to reclassification, language on discipline and dismissal, and performance evaluations.

In addition to recent federal policy changes, the UC system is currently facing significant and unprecedented financial pressures.  These issues shape bargaining as UC works toward agreements that strengthen support for our professional and advising workforce while sustaining the university’s ability to deliver world-class education, groundbreaking research, and vital public service.

UC and UAW will meet again on SSAP on Thursday, September 4.
