The University of California continued negotiations with the United Auto Workers (UAW) on September 4 for a contract for Student Services and Advising Professionals (SSAP).
During the session, UC presented proposals on nondiscrimination and counterproposals on paid holidays and labor management meetings. UAW passed proposals on grievance and arbitration and a list of approved arbitrators.
Student services and advising professionals play an essential role in helping UC students thrive academically and personally. UC is committed to bargaining in good faith with UAW to establish a fair contract for this new unit, while also navigating significant financial pressures that affect the entire University. Finding collaborative solutions will be key to supporting both the professionals who serve students and the broader UC community.
The next SSAP negotiation session is set for Wednesday, September 17.
