January 2025 UC negotiations with UPTE

Our hearts go out to our colleagues, families, and friends who are facing the destruction, devastation, and loss caused by the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles. The University community grieves with you and honors your resilience in the face of unimaginable tragedy. Resources are available through your UC benefits plans if you’re in an affected area or navigating another emergency. Thank you for continuing to show up to provide the essential services and patient care your communities need at UC campuses and medical centers.

Negotiations for new contracts have been underway between UC and UPTE since June 2024. Last month, UPTE declared an impasse, which means negotiations cannot continue without a third party. Confidential mediation is scheduled for Jan. 28-30. We’re hopeful for continued collaboration to reach new contracts.
