University of California, Public Notice Process Under HEERA (UCSD – IBU/ILWU – Marine Crew)

The Higher Education Employer–Employee Relations Act, which governs collective bargaining of higher education employers in the state of California, requires that the university as the employer provide notice to the public before it begins negotiations with an exclusive representative.

The Higher Education Employer–Employee Relations Act, which governs collective bargaining of higher education employers in the state of California, requires that the university as the employer provide notice to the public before it begins negotiations with an exclusive representative.

The University of California, San Diego and the Inlandboatmen’s Union—International Longshore Warehouse Union, covering about 79 marine crew employees, will locally bargain a new labor contract following completion of the public notice meetings scheduled below.

The University will convene initial public notice meetings on November 30, 2020 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am via Zoom [or call in: 213-338-8477, Meeting ID: 963 8560 8228], and December 14, 2020, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am via Zoom [or call in: 213-338-8477, Meeting ID: 963 8560 8228]. Copies of initial bargaining proposals will be available at the meetings. Also, copies of both parties’ initial bargaining proposals are available through the links above.
