University of California, Public Notice Process Under HEERA (CIR/SEIU)

The Higher Education Employer–Employee Relations Act, which governs collective bargaining of higher education employers in the state of California, requires that the university as the employer provide notice to the public before it begins negotiations with an exclusive representative.

The current collective bargaining agreement between the University of California, Irvine and the Committee of Interns and Residents/SEIU (M9 bargaining Unit), provides for successor contract negotiations in 2019. Bargaining may begin following completion of the public notice meetings scheduled below.

The University will convene an initial public notice meeting on May 29, 2019 from 3:00 pm until 4:00 pm in conference room 211, UCI Health Medical Offices at 200 South Manchester Avenue, Orange, California. A second public notice meeting will be held on June 5, 2019 from 3:00 pm until 4:00 pm in conference room 211, UCI Health Medical Offices at 200 South Manchester Avenue, Orange, California. Copies of initial bargaining proposals will be available at the meetings. Interested members of the public may review copies of initial bargaining proposals from both parties online at Campus Human Resources website.

Copies of the procedures governing the required public notice meeting may be requested in person or by mail from the University of California, Irvine, Office of the Associate Chancellor/Chief Human Resources Executive.
