Since the first UC Staff Engagement Survey in 2012, UC has built a rich record of the experiences, views and needs of UC’s non-represented (policy-covered) staff. If you’re one of those invited to participate this year, please take the time to add your voice.
About 20,000 of UC’s non-represented staff will be selected to participate in the UC Staff Engagement Survey. During the week of May 10, a representative sample of staff members will receive an email from Willis Towers Watson, the firm conducting the survey on UC’s behalf, with an invitation to take the survey. The survey closes on Friday, June 4.
This year’s survey combines questions from past years to allow for a long-term analysis of UC’s progress and challenges, with a few new questions designed to capture employees’ experiences during a uniquely challenging year.
“The staff engagement survey is our one periodic opportunity to take the pulse of our policy-covered employees. This is done every two years and we’re fortunate to have a framework in place that allows us to better understand this part of our workforce and gather their thoughts and opinions,” said interim Vice President of Systemwide Human Resources Cheryl Lloyd. “We’re hoping for higher participation than ever so we get an honest and accurate picture of the level of engagement we have with our employees and find areas for improvement.”
The survey is entirely confidential. Individual responses to the survey and personally identifying information will not be shared with UC.
The survey was developed by the Council of University of California Staff Assemblies (CUCSA) in collaboration with the systemwide Human Resources’ Employee Relations department and Willis Towers Watson, a national firm specializing in workforce opinion survey research. Several of the local Staff Assemblies have been able to utilize the results of this survey to make positive changes at their locations.
Union-represented employees will not participate in the survey because UC receives their feedback through their union representatives during the collective bargaining process.
