July 27 marked a critical milestone for the UC community. UCPath deployed at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab (LBNL), finalizing the systemwide implementation of UC’s payroll, benefits, human resources and academic personnel services solution that began in September 2011. From its Riverside headquarters, UCPath now serves all of UC’s more than 225,000 employees at its 10 campuses, five medical centers, national laboratory and the Office of the President, as well as Hastings College of Law and the Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

UCPath provides UC employees with modernized, integrated access to payroll and HR information — including payroll records, health and retirement benefits, vacation/sick time accruals and performance ratings — through a self-service web portal and service center. Systemwide integration allows all UC locations to provide consistent shared services while streamlining more than 100 UC-wide business processes.

“This was a huge undertaking involving the support and participation from many, many people, and I want to thank everyone for their partnership,” says Mark Cianca, interim vice president, chief information officer, and associate vice president, Operational Services. “Kudos to the UCPath and transition teams at all our locations for a job well done!”

With UCPath deployment work now complete, Cianca said the next phase of work will focus on optimizing the UCPath platform.
