The Council of UC Staff Assemblies (CUCSA) shares updates from its latest events and helpful resources for staff to prioritize their well-being, as well as to support colleagues.
CUCSA Summer Quarterly Meeting, Sept. 3 – 5, 2025
Every CUCSA meeting is hosted by one of the system’s local staff assemblies, and September’s meeting was hosted by Agriculture and Natural Resources (ANR). ANR includes staff from over 70 locations throughout California, with each location focusing on a different specialty. The Septembre meeting took place in Salinas, aka the “Salad Bowl of the World,” due to its abundant vegetable production.
The meeting featured presentations from UC ANR leadership, UC Systemwide Human Resources, the Staff Advisors to the Regents and Steinbeck House; agricultural drone demonstrations; and team-building activities.
Delegates focused on key issues affecting staff, including flexible work, staff well-being, sustainable workloads and career development, while also addressing the impact of layoffs, unionization and funding challenges — especially those affecting ANR’s statewide programs.

Quarterly UC Regents Meeting, September 16 – 17, 2025

CUCSA Chair Greta Carl-Halle and Chair-Elect Andrea Graeser represented UC staff at the September UC Regents Meeting, hosted by UCSF. Their presence, along with Staff Advisor Mayté Frías and Staff Advisor Designate Matt Hanson, underscores the continued success of CUCSA’s efforts to ensure staff voices are meaningfully included in university governance. We are proud of our leaders for exemplifying this strong and collaborative partnership.
This meeting also marked President Milliken’s first appearance before the Regents. Watch his remarks below.
CUCSA encourages all staff to read President Milliken’s October 3 message regarding the federal government’s actions affecting UCLA and broader federal oversight of UC’s funding. For the latest information and ongoing updates, please visit the university’s federal updates webpage.

These resources emphasize effective communication, prioritization and well-being to create a healthier and more sustainable work environment for everyone.
