Applications to become the next staff advisor to the UC Regents are due April 1, 2019 at 5 p.m. All interested staff members are encouraged to apply for this invaluable opportunity to provide a staff perspective on issues faced by the board.
Staff advisors are staff or non-Senate academic employees who bring the employee voice and perspective to UC Board of Regents deliberations and to decision-makers at the Office of the President. Staff advisors participate in open sessions and designated committees of the board.
Each of the two staff advisors serves two years. The terms are staggered, with one new staff advisor selected each year. The term for the staff advisor position that is open for applications runs from July 2019 to June 2021.
Departing staff advisor Sherry Main, UC Irvine’s assistant vice chancellor of Public Affairs, shared her experiences in the role in a recent story, and encouraged others to apply. “While this position involves long hours, it is an incredible opportunity for you to serve and to grow. You get to support the people who write our paychecks. Their work matters, and it’s your job to help them do it better.”
You are eligible to serve in this role if you:
- Are a staff or non-Senate academic employee. The seat is open to both non-represented and represented employees.
- Have at least five years of UC service
The current staff advisors are Main and Kate Klimow, chief administrative officer and director of External Relations at UC Irvine Applied Innovation. Klimow’s term continues through June 2020.
You can learn more about the program and how to apply by April 1 on the staff advisor website.
