UC’s Open Enrollment for 2023 benefits begins on Thursday, Oct. 27, at 8 a.m., and ends on Friday, Nov. 18, at 5 p.m. You’ll have more resources than ever to learn about your options:

For 2023 medical plans, UC will continue to offer Kaiser and UC Blue & Gold HMO plans for employees, along with CORE, UC Health Savings Plan and UC Care.

Introducing personalized support from Accolade for employee PPO plan members

Beginning on Jan. 1, 2023, members of CORE, UC Care and UC Health Savings Plan (the PPO plans) will have a new resource: Accolade Health Care Advocate.

From finding a doctor or therapist to resolving claims issues, navigating the health care system can be complex and confusing. That’s why UC is partnering with Accolade Health Care Advocate to provide confidential, individualized support for members of these PPO plans.1

Accolade doesn’t change UC’s PPO medical benefits; it makes them work better for members.

Just ask Accolade

Accolade health assistants and nurses will replace Anthem Health Guide as these PPO plan members’ first point of contact for help with health benefits questions, big or small. Members can ask health assistants and nurses questions like:

  • Is this procedure covered by my health insurance? What will my costs be?
  • Where can I find an in-network pharmacy near me? What prescriptions are covered? What will I pay? Can I order this drug through the mail? Where can I find discounts?
  • Can you help me find a doctor based on my needs and preferences?
  • Where is the nearest urgent care facility?
  • Can you help me schedule and prepare for my next doctor’s visit?
  • Can I get a second opinion on a diagnosis, possible surgery, or treatment plan?
  • Can you help me understand the information on my claim or Explanation of Benefits (EOB) from my last doctor visit?

Accolade services will be integrated with and offered exclusively with UC Care, UC Health Savings Plan, and CORE plans. UC will continue to offer Kaiser and UC Blue & Gold HMO plans in 2023, as well. Watch for more information about UC’s benefits during Open Enrollment.

1 Available to UC PPO plan members not enrolled in Medicare.

Accolade and its affiliates (“Accolade”) are not an emergency medical service. Accolade provides a personalized health care information service to support you to better understand and utilize your benefits, receive information from expert medical resources, and facilitate your access to medical care from various health care professionals, including virtual medical care services. Virtual medical care services offered by Accolade are provided through independent professional medical practices, including under the Accolade Care brand, to which Accolade provides various platform and related services.
