Class Concepts
Under close supervision Radiologic Technologist Trainees take and process radiographs in a training capacity under the supervision of registered Radiologic Technologists while concurrently receiving classroom instruction; and perform other related duties as required.
Radiologic Technologist Trainees receive training during a one to two-year period which qualifies the incumbents to perform the duties of a Radiologic Technologist. Incumbents typically receive classroom instruction, homework assignments, periodic examinations, and a prescribed plan of on-the-job training designed to familiarize the trainee with the various functions of a radiology department; make radiographic exposures in routine examinations, such as those performed in the cysto-room; assist in procedures involving anesthetized patients and sterile fields; observe and become familiar with the basic equipment, terminology and techniques of radiology; prepare patients in various anatomical positions for radiographic exposures; and select technical factors and operate radiographic equipment.
Incumbents may assist in the cleaning and preventive maintenance of radiographic equipment and may assist Radiologists and Radiologic Technologists on special research projects.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school preferably with completion of a course in physics; and knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
