Class Concept

Under general supervision, incumbents fabricate and dispense eyeglasses. Opticians fill prescriptions from licensed optometrists; measure patients for eyewear; grind, edge, surface, level, and mount optical lenses; fit and adjust completed glasses; supervise . and instruct students in the fabrication and dispensing of eyeglasses; maintain ophthalmic equipment; purchase new technical equipment and maintain inventories; and perform other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school and five years of experience as an optician, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and knowledges and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
